1.4. Thesis Outline

In Chapter 1, an introduction of the subject at hand, as well as the motivations that led to it and the goals and objectives hoped to be achieved by it, are presented. Some of the assets produced and acquired during the process making of producing this work are also briefly introduced here, along with this very segment dedicated to the outline of this dissertation. Next, in Chapter 2 some background is shown regarding Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Information Retrieval (IR) techniques. Chapter 3 provides an overview of state-of-the-art techniques used in similar scenarios, and some recent work that led to our implementation.

Chapter 4 we enumerate the implementation requirements and explain the search system architecture. Next, Chapter 5 explains the development of the language model used in our system. Furthermore, in Chapter 6, we analyse the performance of our search system and developed language models.

Finally, Chapter 7 provides an overall retrospective pondering of the developed work and the achieved milestones and gives a quick insight into future work
